Not great at decoding, but it appears that the DirectX shader .cpp screwed up. Might be good to try and reinstall/update your video card drivers, DirectX, or both.

There was an option someone had posted somewhere around here to shut off the shader upon loading the game... That would probley let the game run properly if its a shading problem.

Try suggestion near the bottom.

Shut off your shading option and see if it works.

Yes, behold the power of SEARCH! I don't know what that little button can't do...

Define reformat. As in, doing a system recovery? Or reinstalling Windows? And if reinstalling Windows, installing latest drivers from nVidia or using drivers from a cd or just whatever Windows came with?

Reformat as in

FORMATTING the drive (making it blank) then redo'n the ntfs file system;p

As far as that done 3 diff formats, all with latest drivers,
updated drivers
and suggested drivers..

All of them make me crap out, in the same way. If I use SP1 i get a Kmixer.sys error, and if i use sp2 i get this dxpshad error...

eaither way im up the creek w/out a paddle and its really frusterate'n ..

IF anyone has had this problem and has somehow fixxed it please let me know

im on

amdxp 2200+
512 pc2700 333mhz ram
gf4 ti4600 128mb ram
disconnected my sb audigy platinum, and am currently use'n Realtek onboard audio

If you need any other info ill be happy to supply.

willing to try anything here;/ bout to toss this cpu out the window;/

You may have some bad system memory (RAM). You might want to try stressing your RAM using http://www.memtest86.com/ . Follow the windows installation instructions there carefully.
If you have two RAM cards (DIMMS) on your motherboard, it would be ideal to test only one at a time. Get some help if you don't know what you're doing. I don't know what model or brand your motherboard is.

Otherwise, it may be worth checking to make sure you have adequete power next.
After that, I'd move to other hardware: disable sound devices completely, try another video card, etc.

Its not a power issue. =\

Have you tried another video card yet? Your current one might be getting old and worn. How long have you had it for?

Try lowering video settings to minimum and letting us know the length of time that it runs. If it runs for a decent amount of time, increase some of the settings. And keep repeating.

I feel sure it's hardware related. I just felt, from experience, to start with the RAM as I've seen that particular error occur due to a faulty DIMM.
Moving on to power is continuing with a comprehensive approach. Checking your powersupply first, reduces the chance of having to check it again after going through the trouble of removing your sound devices(etc) and trying another video card, only to discover a failing rail on your powersupply.

Did a ram check, 9 passes and no errors. left it running for about 35-40 min...

You need to run this test overnight, around 12 to 15 hours

Thanks geocurt. And you also should try to do this with each RAM DIMM one at a time.

Same problem from the past.

Check it out and see if you can use any of the information. Its basically summed up to BIOS and video card (from my rough skimming over it in 30 seconds).

Skimmed it again, a BIOS update is what one of the people used that helped out a bit.

There doesn't seem to be any actual solution yet to the problem, just some work arounds and whatnot.

EnDinG, from what I read in that thread, the issue ultimately was a result of a problem with RAM.
I don't want to keep pushing the issue, but I really think that the issue from this thread and the issue from the thread you linked is related to RAM in one way or the other, either directly or indirectly. The bios update that poster mentions in his/her thread might have fixed a memory compatibility issue. The issue might have caused errors with the way his/her computer used the system memory. Or it could be the case that that poster's memory timings were not proper, and during the process of updating the bios, the cmos was reset, resulting in default values for memory timings, letting the system run without error.

Another little note for the original poster, LeiChow. Memtest86 (or any other memory stress tester) is not guaranteed to find a faulty RAM stick, even if the RAM in question is indeed faulty.
It helps to minimize this effect by running the memtest, outside of windows, for many hours (a day preferably). It's not such a bad idea to pick up some known good RAM from a friend and give it a try in your board. Just make sure to remove your current RAM first, don't add the new to the old.

EnDinG, I really don't want you to feel like I'm busting your chops, or whatever other expression works best here. Volunteering to do this is a hobby for me too, I realize this is usually a thankless job. And we're all going to have different opinions from time to time. I'm only pushing this one because I feel so strongly about it, from my own experience. I don't mean you any disrespect at ALL. If another person out there is researching this problem for their own system, I feel inclined to make sure this opinion is fully explored too.

Thanks

No, its fine man. Like I said I only skimmed it over quickly since I was on my way out of work.

I'm actually just waiting to see what the OP has done so far to solve the problem. I figured it was going to be some kind of RAM issue, but was thinking more about the video card over the sticks since it was a shading error.

Can never hurt to have other options on things so don't worry. Takes more then me being wrong about something to get me all steaming and whatnot. =)
